Hubby woke me up at 6:00am to go for a walk but I wanted to sleep a little more. So we got up at 6:45 to go on our walk. We walked left on the boardwalk towards the fishing pier and Venice Boardwalk. We walked down the pier then walked over to the Canals Water Path. I'm glad I picked the hotel on the Santa Monica border because Venice Boardwalk is over run with homeless people, tacky cheap food, souvenir shops and dirty sidewalks. The canals are pretty. We saw an Egret. Alot of people had small boats tied up along the canal with little docks. There was a gondola moored near someones house. There are lot of really nice homes along the canals. The hotels, homes and restaurants along the boardwalk are crummy looking. We walked 4 miles. My feet hurt.
We decided to make today a rest day since are all very tired. We need to take the boy to see the canals and the boardwalk since he didn't come with us this morning. He wanted to sleep in. We had lunch at Enterprise Fish Company on Kinney Street which is within walking distance of our hotel. It was good. I had the mixed seafood grill combination of shrimp, scallops, salmon and vegis. It came with 2 sides. I chose the ginger infused brown rice and house salad. The ginger infused brown rice was a little plain it needed something. The house salad was good. The boy got chicken fettuccine and hubby got the Costa Rican Mahi Mahi mesquite grilled, toasted macadamia nuts, crispy Maui onions with a lemon beurre sauce. Hubby's sides were ginger infused brown rice and steamed spinach. After lunch we walked down to the boardwalk so the boy could see Muscle Beach. It was really crowded out. There were even more weirdo out. There were a lot of street performers, artist selling crappy cheap wares. After we rested a bit we met my uncle who lives in Downey. He took us to Chris and Pitts for dinner. The food was OK. I got the pork chops they were a little dry. The boy had a pastrami sandwich that looked and smelled good. Hubby got the meatloaf. The last time we were down visiting my uncle he took us there the boy was 3. Tomorrow we are packing up and heading to Anaheim.
