Sacramento Field Trip

Yesterday I chaperoned my son's class on a field trip to Sacramento. His class studied California History in class. We rode up on a bus. We left at 7:30 in the morning. We had to meet at the school at 7:00. My son was very excited about the trip. We went to bed early so we could get up at 6:00am. My friend picked us up and drove us to the school. It was a nice and easy ride up. We toured the California State Capitol, Sutter's Fort, California State Railroad Museum, The Old Schoolhouse Museum, a Wagon Ride Through Old Town Sacramento and a Walking Tour of Old Town Sacramento. We had a tour guide. It was really busy with lots of school tours at the California State Capitol. We were going to sit in on a Senate Session but there wasn't enough room because there was so many people in there so we went and visited the Vietnam Memorial. Then we went to visit Sutter's Fort. There were a lot of school kids in the fort. After we finished seeing the Fort we had some lunch and ate on the grass outside of the Fort. Lunch was provided as part of our tour package. We had a choice of turkey, ham and cheese or a salad and it included chips, drink and cookies. After lunch we headed over to the California State Railroad Museum and then we toured The Old School House. After the Old School House we went on a Wagon Ride and then we got to walk around Old Town Sacramento. At 3:00pm we loaded the bus to drive home. We made good time until we got on the bridge where we ran into traffic because there was a accident farther up the highway. We were supposed to be home at 5:00 but we didn't get home until 6:00pm. It was a fun but long day. My son and I had a great time on the trip. We were exhausted when we got home last night. We went to bed early because we were so tired.

This was the first time the 4th grade classes have done this field trip. I think it went pretty well. A few things they need to fine tune but all in all it was a good field trip.
