Vacation Traveling

Tue 6/5 Blog Prompt
You are between 5 and 10. You are going on vacation (or moving). What form of transportation was used to get there? Did it take long? And what did you do to entertain yourself while traveling?

Most of the summer vacations we would loaded up our Rambler station wagon and drove to Oregon to visit my Mom's family. My brother and I would see how many out of state license plates we could spot. I don't remember playing a lot of games while we were driving. It was so hot in the car since there wasn't any air conditioning! We stopped at the reststops along way to stretch, walk the dog and go use the restrooms. Of course, we would always ask "When are we going to get there"?. We would start bugging each other and my Dad would say, "Don't make me come back there"! LOL A majority of the time we were sleeping, too. The trip is 8 hours and we would stop in Redding to fill up the car and to eat at Denny's. We take our poodle out for a walk and bathroom break. Tie her up near the entrance to the restaurant.

A few of the summers we flew down to Los Angeles to visit my Grandma,Uncle and my Aunts. I remember flying into Long Beach Airport and seeing the Jack Rabbits on the runway. We did the tourist things like seeing Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo. My Grandma had a pool so we also hung out in the water all day. My brother and I would wake up in the morning and find 25 cents on the table for each of us. My Grandpa would leave the money for us but we didn't know it was him until we grew up. I don't remember who he said the money was from.
