Jobs!

Mon 6/25 Blog Prompt
Did you have an after school job as a teenager? What kind of job was it? What were you paid? What is your best and worst memory of the job?

I had a paper route delivering our local newspaper. My Dad would drive me to the start of my route which was a little ways from our street. He would also help me fold and stuff my delivery bag. Sometimes he would deliver the papers for me if I wasn't feeling well or not able to do it for one reason or another. I don't remember what I was paid. It was fun and I had a route that wasn't on my block so I got to see different neighborhoods. The worst would be having to fold the papers, stuff them into the delivery bag and having to do the route in the rain.

Of course, I had babysitting jobs. I babysat my neighbor next door's 2 kids on Saturday mornings so she could sleep in.

I worked at the Emporium when they had their warehouse sales and during the Christmas season.

I also worked at Woolworth helping out during their yearly inventory.

I cleaned two of my neighbors houses. One of them was my Girl Scout leaders house. I usually cleaned her bathroom and vacumed. The other house was across the street and it was really smelly and yucky. It was full of bird poop and dog hair. She was an elderly neighbor so she couldn't see how really dirty the house was. I hated cleaning that house! Yuck!
