I Just Wanted to Buy A TV!

Yesterday while my son and I were in the kitchen eating dinner we heard a pop, sizzle and there was a yucky smell. Our TV blew up. I couldn't find the power cord to disconnect it. I finally found it but it had been sizzling for a bit. We weren't planning on buying a new TV yet but now we have to.

After researching TV's on the web, we finally decided on one so we spent all day today going to different stores to see the TV's. After looking at them, we decided to buy a different set. We were ready to buy it from Circuit City but the model we decided on was sold out and the other stores didn't have any either. The manufacturer was discontinuing that model. We decided to buy the floor model contingent on if they had all of the parts. They checked the back and they had everything so their maintenance guy gets ready to take it off the wall and finds there are no screws for the mounting stand. This would have been no problem if we were mounting the TV on the wall. Somebody took the screws out of the package. Then we went to Best Buy and they were sold out, too. Ughhhh.....now we have to start all over again. We are not very happy campers right now. Now we don't know what we are going to do.

  1. Good luck on finding your perfect television. We bought a Westinghouse HD from Best Buy about a year ago and have been real happy with it.

  2. Oh my that is frustrating! I hope you can find one you like again. I am so glad you heard the pop and nothing caught fire. Gosh that would have been so scary! Best of luck in your T.V. shopping!

  3. That's a bummer Dorene. But don't forget your previous post -- n = never gives up.
    Good luck.

  4. I know it must have been frustrating but try to think on the positive side. Maybe it was divine intervention and it wasn't meant to be. If you got it, you might have had a whole new set of headaches! I hope you find one. We went through a lot of what you went through and finally found the one after hours of hunting. We bought a Sony widescreen HDTV and within the first month had problems with it.

  5. Ugh, my nightmare is when we have to replace our TV, I do not WANT a big fancy TV, I don't care about high definition, etc., etc. Every time I start to read about selecting a TV for "these days" my head aches. I think when ours dies, I'll go back to not having a TV at all.

That said, thank goodness you were home when it happened and there wasn't a fire!
