For the last 3 weeks my son has been attending a theatrical
dance camp through our local performing arts school. In the camp the dancer’s focus on their
artistic expression with theater and dance.
They are learning storytelling through dance. How cool is that? They learn the choreography
in three weeks and at the end of the three weeks they have a performance. The first week of camp they audition and are
casted for various roles. The boy was cast as Mulan’s father, a Soldier and
Turkish Emperor.
This year they presented “The Wood Orchid: The Ballad of Hua
Mulan”. It is based on the legend of
Mulan but not completely.
The dancing, the costumes and the lighting was
gorgeous. They all did such an amazing
job bringing Mulan to life through dance. It is amazing how they can put together a
dance performance in three short weeks.
The dancers, the choreographers and lighting techs all did an amazing
job! Bravo!
