Happy New Year!

This is going to be a good year because my birthday is 1-14-14 this year.  We spent New Years Eve at home.  We had sparkling soda and mini crescent dogs.  Hubby, the boy and I watched New Year's Rockin' Eve.  At midnight there was quite a bit of fireworks going off in our neighborhood so we went out into the cold night to watch them.  There were also quite a few lanterns that were lit floating in the sky.  It was very pretty but I wish I got a picture of them floating in the air.

New Years Day hubby and I put away the Christmas decorations.  We had our traditional Good Luck soup for breakfast which is a Japanese tradition from hubby's mom.  It is a clear soup with mochi (rice cake).  For dinner we made Hoppin' John.  Just to make sure we started the New Year off right.
